The Alaskan Eagle
$290.00 – $1,800.00
Description
While driving from Homer, Alaska to Whereeversville, I kept my eyes on the road. I also looked up into the sky and glanced at practically every tree top I passed. I was looking for Bald Eagles! I had seen and photographed many teenage fledglings the day before at the beach, and I wanted to find their moms and dads to give them equal portrait time. I turned off the main road many times and slowly drove down gravel ones in search of nesting or resting eagles. It wasn’t a difficult task as there were plenty to be found. Often, I pulled to the side and with my 500mm lens ready to go, I leaned against my warm car and played stare out games with the feathered friends. Like kings and queens perched upon the tallest throne, their regal manners and stoic nature made for great interactions between my lens and their expressions. This one in particular seemed as interested in me as I was in him. He seemed to taunt me with a “catch me if you can” glance. We interrelated for a while. He flew off. He flew back. I photographed his majestic grace until he finally tired of this game, and he flew off into the distance.
